The ancient Ice Age landscape has been altered by farming over the years. Arable crops, sheep and cattle are farmed all around the Valley.
It is vital to keep dogs on a lead when in livestock areas - and also to remember how protective cattle can be when they have their young with them.
In summer, the beef herd is loose in the central valley with a bull, so take care if you see cattle grazing.
